I’ll start with asking a few questions to assess where you stand, in scope of this article.
Have you resolved to start a new diet in the new year, but failed to follow through with the decision?
Have you dieted to the tune of no results?
Have you lost weight on a diet only to have it all come back, plus some?
Have you done every new weight loss challenge or program under the sun, with successes, and now find it hard to lose any weight at all?
If you answered NO to any or all of these questions, stop reading and move on to the next Title that interests you. BUT, if you answered YES to any of these questions, or any combination of several or all of these questions, then this blog is for YOU!
On my failures
I get it. I’ve had plenty of blunders in my nutrition. I haven’t always stuck to my guns and I haven’t always had success in regards to what I ate and how it effected my body. As an example, I was predicted to be about 6’1" by my growth charts as a child and had several ancestors to show that it was in my genetic makeup to be that height. However, due to poor diet and sleep habits from the time of my adolescence until I was about 14 years of age, I wound up being just a smidgen under 5’10". This very likely played a role in my lack of early athletic development and kept me from reaching my genetic potential when I finally decided to start eating what my body craved for growth and development the results were astonishing. I had always been “the runt” of my class. However, from my freshmen year of high school to my senior year, I gained 50lbs of mass, most of which was muscle. I don’t say this in a bragging manner, as I certainly can’t take full credit for my successes. I say it to encourage you in your journey. You see, I could’ve been dismayed about my lack of progress and growth, but I decided to make the best of my situation and give it everything I had to succeed at my dreams. And, I did.
You Can Too
Your story is all too familiar to me. You wake up each and every day with a new determination to achieve your goals. As the day wears on, hundreds of messages tell you, “this is how you find success”, and “that is the way to go if you want to lose weight”, “blah, blah, blah”. The white noise is deafening. You try to sort through all the dietary information that the market involuntarily shoves down your throat. So you try “this” for a few day or weeks, with no avail, then you try “that” and “the other” for a month and that was an empty promise as well! Frustration sits in and you wonder if your health is even worth pursuing. You start to reason with yourself, “I just can’t”, or “that doesn’t work for me”. I’ve been there. Your neighbor has been there. We’ve all experienced this, “is this really worth the effort I put in?”.
I can insure you, emphatically, YOU are worth the effort you put in. You’re a human and as such are beautiful and deserve to be rewarded for your hard work. After all, it’s not your fault the market is flooding you with misleading and even false information on diet and exercise. If you had but a few guiding principles to live by in order to obtain the success that is long overdue you, you would have succeeded upon your first attempt. You know why? Because you’re a go get ‘er. You don’t lay down and let a challenge defeat you. Instead, you rise to the occasion and take on the task that many others aren’t willing to accept. You set the example to your children and grandchildren, as the standard for future generations to uphold. It’s daunting at times but you persist, and for that I applaud you! The fabric of our nation was built by people just like you. That is why you WILL succeed.
How To Succeed at Will
